Answers to some of your most frequently asked CATalyst questions.

Stenograph’s Tech Support Advisor, Justin Sieger, has put together a quick FAQ that addresses some of the more common calls Technical Support has been receiving. If your question doesn’t appear here don’t worry, you can always check out the Stenograph Solution Center, the Stenograph AskBot website, Help (F1) in CATalyst, or contact Technical Support.

Q:  With work picking up again, a lot of attorneys are doing remote depositions using web conferencing apps like Zoom, GoToMeeting, etc. Can I record the audio from these apps into Case CATalyst?

A:  Of course, you can. Our Training Program Manager, Cindi Lynch, wrote some very informational guides on how to setup your computer to record audio from web conferencing apps. They can be found on our Solution Center website here.

Q:  Is there a way I can get a list of the keyboard commands in Case CATalyst?

A:  If you click on Help, then Command Summary Cards, you will see Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Command Summary Cards. Click on one of them and the card will open in your default PDF reader. From there you can print it out or leave it open as a reference while you are editing.

If you have a custom keyboard map, we have you covered there too. Go to Help, Personal Command Summary Cards, then choose Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced. A dialog box will appear asking you to choose the keyboard map. Simply double-click on the keyboard map and It will appear in your default web browser.

Q:  I just updated to Case CATalyst version 21, where can I read about the latest features?

A:  You can read about the exciting new features like CaseViewNet Browser Links and VCard imports, by checking out the “What’s New” page here.

For a more in depth look, check out the Case CATalyst version 21 Release Notes here.

Q:  My audio seems to skip when I am listening to a particular line in my transcript. What’s going on?

A:  It sounds like the Skip Quiet Audio bar in the Audio Playback Speed box is not set to No Skip. Simply move the vertical slider down to No Skip and then play the audio again.

Q:  I got a new computer and need to get Case CATalyst installed and get everything setup. How would I go about doing that?

A:  We’ve created a guide that will walk you through the entire process of getting your new computer setup for Case CATalyst and ready for your next job. You can download the guide here.

Q:  Is my writer ok to leave in the car if I’m making a quick trip to the store?

A:  Your Stenograph writer is a fine-tuned machine. Extreme heat and cold could damage the internal components and could potentially lead to a costly repair. It is recommended you keep your writer at room temperature to reduce this risk.
