As we observe Suicide Awareness Month, it is a time for reflection, education, and action. This year, I am organizing a special panel in honor of my late sisters, whose memories inspire me to advocate for mental health and suicide prevention. This event aims to foster understanding, provide support, and encourage open conversations about mental health.
My panel will feature three distinguished panelists, Megan McCrory, David Scarbro, and myself, each bringing diverse perspectives and experiences related to mental health and suicide prevention and awareness. I am also honored to have Mental Health Therapist Aimee Koerner-Frank, PsyD, as a special guest. Aimee will provide professional insights and answer audience questions.
Suicide is a complex and deeply personal issue that affects countless lives. By sharing stories, discussing challenges, and exploring solutions, we hope to break the stigma surrounding mental health and offer a supportive community for those in need.
This panel is not just an event; it is a step towards a more compassionate and educated society surrounding mental health. We invite everyone to join us for this important discussion. In addition to the panel discussion, we will provide resources for those seeking help, including information on local mental health services, support groups, and crisis hotlines. We want to ensure that everyone leaves the event with the knowledge and tools to support themselves and others.
Whether you have been personally affected by suicide or are looking to learn more about mental health, your presence and participation are invaluable. Together, we can make a difference. In memory of my sisters and all those lost to suicide, let’s come together to raise awareness, offer support, and inspire hope. Your voice matters, and together, we can create a world where mental health is prioritized, and no one feels alone.
