Help Stenograph Feed Elementary School Children!

With November right around the corner, Stenograph is excited to participate in the fifth annual Blessings in a Backpack DIY 5K walk/run, sponsored by our parent company, The Heico Companies!

This DIY event supports the Chicagoland Chapter of Blessing in a Backpack, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry. Chicago Blessings currently feeds 6,000 food-insecure kids each weekend who rely on free school lunches during the weekday.

For the past four years, Stenograph employees have joined The Heico Companies Team in completing a 5K at their own pace, place, and time during the first week of November. This year’s event will run from Saturday, November 2, through Sunday, November 10. As in past years, the Stenograph team will come together with their friends, family, and each other to support a great cause while enjoying the fall scenery.

Stenograph HR Manager Sarah Zwolinski took part in the event last year with her family, and has already signed up to participate again. Sarah shared, “The best part of the DIY 5K for me was getting the opportunity to explain to my kids why as a family we were participating in this run.  We discussed how one person can make a difference in someone’s life just by making the decision to walk/run for Blessing’s in a Backpack.  My kids understood that no one should go hungry when there are people out there that can help.”

Last year the DIY 5K raised over $72,000, which is enough to feed over 540 children for an entire school year. We’re excited to see how large of an impact we can have again next month!
